1 Minute Meditation Practice : Finding Your Own Paradise

Mental wellness has been an increasingly popular topic among people around the world these days. It is paramount to take care of our mind in order to become more productive to achieve the tasks we want to do, more connected to ourselves and to have a higher, positive energy for ourselves and other people.

Remember the time you are in a room full of people and there's always this person with positive high energy who can bring everybody's mood up? It's actuallly not hard to achieve once you practice mindfulness so you can also spread this positivity to others.

While we do not always have time to practice mindfulness, specially if you are stuck at work or in school, sitting down quietly for 10 minutes seems like a luxury. Fortunately, there's a rather quick way to achieve a calming state of mind - Here's how to create your own paradise in 1 minute:

We are always thinking. Thinking about the past, worrying about tomorrow, but seldom we are present.

For this 1 minute mindfulness practice that I do, let's say when drinking tea in the morning at your desk, just take the time to close your eyes, be present and imagine your own paradise.

Since we are always thinking, why not think about something that can bring you joy and peace. Like the time you spent your summer holiday in a beach resort in Thailand, sitting on the fine soft white sand overlooking the crystal blue ocean sparkling under the golden sunlight or the time you climbed to the top of the mountain, looking down at the vast green field with gentle breeze caressing your hair in Switzerland... When you speak of paradise, there should be a place, an image that come to you. It can be somewhere you've been or pictures you've seen, (let's say the overwater bungalows in Maldives).

So for this 1 minute, simply close your eyes and image your own paradise. (Of course it is best to imagine the paradise where you've physically been as you'll have a more vivid memory of how it feels to be there.)

What do you see? Do you see the sun shining above the ocean water? Do you see how vast the ocean is ?There's nothing but peace, calmness and serenity. No people around you, no work to do, just relaxing there watching the waves come and go. Can you listen to the sound of the waves too? Does the sun make your body feel warm, light and energized? Maybe there's a smell of salt too. Breath along the ocean waves and just to be still. Remember how it feels to just sit there, watching the nature.

After visualizing yourself in your own paradise, you would feel more relaxed and calm and when you are ready, gently open your eyes again. And somehow we are calm again and nothing to get to you.

Are you ready for this 1 minute meditation practice? Where will your paradise be?
