Lunch at The Butterfly Room (Review) 🦋 -Rosewood Hong Kong

Rosewood Hotel has been one of my favorite hotels in Hong Kong, with its luxurious and stylish design, it is quite irresistible not to visit its famous afternoon-tea lounge - The Butterfly Room.

The Butterfly Room is an elegant all-day lounge which caters afternoon tea, coffee and lunch. Its spacious and grand room is decorated with a hint of golden and brown tone interior, with different symmetry and geometric forms that welcome guests to relax and have a refined savory and sweet experience.

The room is also brightened up and accentuated with colorful yet subtle elements such as the pastel green and pink velvet armchairs in the shape of seashells and mounted blue butterflies artwork by British artist Damien Hirst displayed on the walls, bringing a sense of cheerfulness and charm.

Having heard it is quite difficult to book a table, I went there on a weekday and walked in to ask if there was any availability. To my surprise, I was able to get the last table. Their lunch and afternoon tea are separated into two time slot, lunch - before 3:15pm , and afternoon tea - after 3:15. Since I wasn't looking for an afternoon tea set on that day, I went for their A-La-Carte menu and was able to sit in at 3:00 and take my order. From my observation, guests who reserved a table are only allowed to enter to be seated at exactly 3:15 for the afternoon tea. I felt lucky to be seated right before them to enjoy the room all for myself for a bit and to read on the lunch menu.

Their A-La-Carte menu includes everything from fresh sophisticated salad, soup like mushroom and king crab soup, refined entrée dishes like black beef angus steak tartare, roasted salmon to their signature desserts and indulgent drinks. For me, I ordered the steak tartare, their house tea and a vanilla mille feuille for dessert.

Before the food arrives, the service provided by the staff was courteous and welcoming. I was welcomed with starter - bread of your choice and the staff was making sure the food and everything is fine.

Black Beef Angus Steak Tartare :

It is my second time eating steak tartare. At first I was hesitant to try but as long as I tasted a bite, I was surprised by how flavorful it is. The steak tartare here has a hint of freshness, enhanced with a hint of herbs. The whole flavor of the dish is satisfying for its quality beef and refreshing for its spices and herbs.

House Tea

The signature house tea has a hint of rose and it's prepared in a clear glass pot over a candle to keep it warm. Although it was a fresh tea, I was actually looking for something more rich and fragrant. Maybe I'll try another one next time.

Vanilla Mille Feuille

Their vanilla mille feuille is crunchy and rich in, well of course, vanilla cream. It's like a harder, crunchier version of Napoleon. Buttery for the pastry and milky for the vanilla cream is how I would describe how it tastes.

The overall dining experience was exceptional. From its comfy and refined environment, gracious service and compelling dishes, I would highly recommend you to have your own culinary experience at The Butterfly Room in Rosewood Hong Kong.

Hint:

For this meal I didn't actually spend any money (Isn't it just more delightful?) since I used the K11 membership scheme's point to pay for it. I also recommend you joining their membership scheme as you can earn their "K dollar" by spending a specific amount of money and use the "K dollar" in anywhere you want in their mall and Rosewood Hotel.
